The fourth annual Ramona Valley Vineyard Association (RVVA) educational Wine and Grape Symposium will be held on Saturday, July 16, 2016, beginning at 7:30 a.m. at the California Center for the Arts, Escondido, 340 N. Escondido Blvd., Escondido, CA 92025. Registration and breakfast start at 7:30 a.m., followed by a day of prominent speakers. Tickets are available now to the public at www.ramonavalleyvineyards.com.
“We designed the Wine and Grape Symposium to provide quality education to both grape growers and winemakers. This year’s speakers focus on the agricultural and winemaking needs in San Diego County and the marketing and sales aspects of reaching wine drinkers,” said Micole Moore, president of the Ramona Valley Vineyard Association (RVVA).
Speakers
This year’s keynote speaker is Greg La Follette, LaFollette Wines & Consultant, who will speak on the topic “Making Good Wine Even Better (Blending, Fining, Finishing).” One of California’s most accomplished winemakers, La Follette has delved into the science behind the art of winemaking, particularly old world winemaking techniques.
Suzanne Frontz, President, Metz & Associates, Alcohol Beverage Industry Consulting will focus on the selling of wine and address “Selling Wholesale: Tips & Tricks for Today, Tomorrow & the Future.” Frontz offers strategic business consulting services to alcohol beverage companies based on her education and extensive sales and business experience that includes tripling wine sales at Cinnabar.
Eric Larson, Executive Director, San Diego County Farm Bureau will offer the latest on the water needs of San Diego County, “San Diego County Water Update.” Larson began working in San Diego County’s agricultural industry in 1971 and has held the position of Executive Director, San Diego County Farm Bureau, since January 1997.
Greg Pennyroyal, Viticulture/Enology Coordinator, Wilson Creek Winery and Vineyards, will offer his insight on “Biological Viticulture.” He has a broad education and research experience that includes NIH research resulting in a patent for the Gene Expression Assay characterization of botanical medicines.
Maurice DiMarino, Beverage and Wine Manager for the Cohn Restaurant Group (San Diego), will discuss “Wine Labels and Presenting them to High-End Restaurants” DiMarino oversees beverages for the 16 Cohn Group restaurants.
In addition, sponsor displays and information will be available to attendees throughout the day. Breakfast and lunch will be served.

Open to the public, the symposium is $99 for Ramona Valley Vineyard Association (RVVA) members, as well as other association members, including, San Diego County Vintners Association (SDCVA); East County Vintners Association; San Diego Amateur Winemaking Society (SDAWS); Ramona Valley Winery Association (RVWA); and San Diego County Farm Bureau. The fee is $125 for non-members. It covers the education programs as well as breakfast, and lunch with wine tasting.

About the Ramona Valley Vineyard Association (RVVA)
The Ramona Valley Vineyard Association (RVVA) was founded in 2001 “to promote, protect and enhance the Ramona Valley AVA, our wines, vintners, and community.” The RVVA was largely responsible for creating the Ramona Valley American Viticulture Area (AVA) in 2006 and the sponsoring organization for the effort to create the Boutique Winery Ordinance in 2010.
