Detailed Information

Founded in the spring of 2009, Vineyard Grant James began with just three acres planted on a sun-drenched hillside in the heart of the Ramona Valley. Today, the estate has grown to seven and a half acres of meticulously farmed vines, each block carefully selected to thrive in our unique valley microclimate of warm days, cool evenings, and rolling elevation.

As a proudly woman-owned winery led by owner and winemaker Susanne Sapier, Vineyard Grant James is rooted in intention, craftsmanship, and a deep respect for place. Every bottle reflects both the character of our estate and the dedication behind each vintage.

Our estate varietals include Syrah, Merlot, Sangiovese, Orange Muscat, Greco, Refosco, and Nebbiolo — a distinctive lineup that reflects both Old World inspiration and Ramona Valley innovation. We produce small-lot wines using 100% estate fruit alongside carefully sourced grapes from neighboring Ramona growers, supporting and preserving the integrity of our local wine community.

At Vineyard Grant James, we believe wine should express a true sense of place. From thoughtful vineyard management to hands-on winemaking, our goal is to showcase purity, balance, and the unmistakable character of Ramona Valley terroir.

Guests are invited to taste on our stone veranda overlooking the Sangiovese vineyard and sweeping valley hills. Our setting blends rustic countryside charm with refined hospitality — a relaxed yet elevated experience that feels both intimate and memorable.

We are known for our award-winning wines including Viognier, Rosé of Syrah, Sangiovese, Zinfandel, Nebbiolo, Merlot, Syrah, Petite Sirah, and Cabernet Sauvignon — each crafted to reflect vintage variation and boutique quality.

Beyond the glass, Vineyard Grant James is a gathering place. From educational tastings and vineyard walks to seasonal events and wine club experiences, we invite guests to slow down, connect, and savor life’s simple pleasures: beautiful views, thoughtful wines, and meaningful company.

Come experience Ramona Valley through the lens of Vineyard Grant James — where craftsmanship meets countryside hospitality.
