With Tasting Room/Winemaker’s Library Patio

Located above San Pasqual Valley’s San Diego Zoo Safari Park in Escondido’s Highland Valley Wine Country.  Altipiano is a boutique family, veteran owned and operated vineyard and winery surrounded by Denise & Peter’s Tuscan Villa complete with an indoor tasting room, winemaker’s library  and a winery production facility. Surrouded by shaded outdoor patio seating, fountains and terraced gardens line the handsome Tuscan-inspired property that invites guests to sit, sip and take in the majestic and compelling landscape. Denise released her first wines in 2012. Her focus as a winemaker is on Italian varietals, to include Estate Sangiovese (Brunello Clone), Estate Barbera, Aglianico, Primitivo, Nero D’Avola,  Super Tuscan, other varietals include, Estate Cabernet Sauvignon, Petite Sirah, Merlot, and Syrah. Tasting Room opened Saturday and Sunday Noon to Sunset (Winter Hours), (Spring/Summer Noon-6pm). Winery is 21 years or older. Walkins are welcome, groups 8 or more call the winery.

Ramona Ranch is a rare winery in the wine industry. Small, first-generation and owned by founders, Teri and Micole, with Teri, a Navy veteran overseeing the business side, while Micole is the winemaker and vineyard tender. We have focused on sustainability since our inception in 2004 and are San Diego County’s only Certified Sustainable Vineyard and Winery.
Experience why Ramona Ranch has been voted Best of Ramona for the past five years. From an on-site insectary, which invites beneficial bugs and birds to improve the bio-diversity of the farm, to the native cover crops, we have been recognized by the National Wildlife Federation as a Certified Wildlife Habitat. With a natural riparian area, the quail covey’s are thriving in the vineyards, along with a family of California Greater Roadrunners, red-tail and cooper hawks, and you may glimpse the occasional golden eagle or snowy egret flying by as you enjoy the mountain views.
